System-wide Coherence

In February 2006, based on Paragraph 169 of the World Summit Outcome Document, the Secretary-General created a High-level Panel on UN System-wide Coherence in the areas of development, humanitarian assistance and environment. The Panel’s report of November 2006 has had various results, including the eventual adoption of Resolution A/63/311 (September 2009), in which the GA decided to establish a new gender entity. The GA continues its work in the other follow-up areas of SWC, including Delivering as One, governance and funding of operational activities for development, and harmonization of business practices. The GA plans to adopt a single Resolution or Decision to “review and take stock of all its prior actions and deliberations.”
